HELP for Child Care Program

The Hawai’i Early Learning Partnerships (HELP) for Childcare Program provides financial assistance for childcare to eligible families with children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old.

In alignment with federal grant guidelines, our program is focused towards helping ʻohana who are working, going to school, enrolled in job training, or actively seeking employment – all with the goal of improving their householdʻs financial stability.

What We Offer:

  • Up to 12 months of childcare assistance
  • 3 months of support while job searching
  • Assistance for families using:
    • In-Home ‘Ohana Care (by family, neighbor, friend, etc.)
    • Licensed Family Child Care Homes
    • Licensed Child Care Centers
    • Before/After School Programs

Who We Serve:

  • Families of Native Hawaiian, American Indian, and Alaska Native children
  • Residents of Oʻahu, Kauaʻi, Niʻihau, and Hawaiʻi Island
  • Families on Maui, Lānaʻi, and Molokaʻi may qualify through Maui Family Support Services

Eligibility Criteria:

  • For keiki:
    • Must be Native Hawaiian, American Indian, or Alaska Native
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen
    • Age 6 weeks to 12 years old (12-18 years old for keiki with special needs)
    • Must reside on eligible islands
  • For makua:
    • Must live with and be legally responsible for the keiki
    • Must be employed, in school, in job training, or actively seeking employment
    • Family assets must NOT exceed $1,000,000
    • Monthly gross income must fall within program limits shown below:
